A report reaching us has it that a student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, living in Alvan Ikoku Hall was this evening electrocuted.
The poor student who lives in the last wing of the Hall came out from his room to throw water through the rail when he became electrocuted.
The report has it that the student whose name, department and year of study was unknown at the time of filing in this report, was electrocuted because he was resting on the guardian rail which was in direct contact with a live wire. The contact kept the victim motionless to the first students that came to the scene hit him with sticks till he fell off the grip of the electric-charged rail.
The student has been rushed to the Health Center in the university as virtually every student in the hostel stood in awe, praying to God for his survival.
We wish him a speedy recovery. We urge the school authorities to look into the occasions of bad/faulty electric wiring in the various halls of residence in the university as to prevent the re-occurrence of such incidents in the future.
